Six South Wales Wingers Go To The
Bar Wingding In Switzerland

Roy Bow-trike, Chris, Keith and Lesley, Jim and Ali - two solos and a trike set off for the bar wingding in Switzerland, it was raining at 6-30 in the morning but cleared up after Newport and we didn’t see any more rain for the eleven days we were away - brilliant. We stopped twice on the way down in France, once at Arras and once at Dole. The ride through France was lovely, the sun was out and it was lovely to see old friends again at our arrival at the WingDing. Paddy took us out on runs and Owen was tailman and what a great job they did. We went to some lovely places. On Thursday and Friday Jed managed to join us and he took us out with Paddy and Owen and this was a perfect end to the week. Sadly all good things must come to an end and we had to say our farewells on Friday morning. We stopped twice on the return trip at Troyes and Lens in France at Campanile hotels. We arrived home with 2200 miles under our belts - and enjoyed every bit of the trip. We have been to the BAR WingDing 4 times now and plan to do it again. The Trike travellers

BAR WingDing Six was terrible - for me. Why you may ask? Well it’s rather easy to explain in about three to four thousand words – So I will keep this report to the point and as precise as possible.

As ‘on the ground organiser’ of the 2006 WD, a whole years work really came together during the last few days before the start of the WD. Not only did some of the regions “Star-Helpers” decided not come at the last minute due to different personal circumstances, but also my work commitments had trebled over the past three months and I new from the offset that I would be a ‘dead-leg participant’– yours truly was not a happy bunny.

The first time not being able to
fully attend my regions annual event of the year is not an experience I want again and from this point on this report is dedicated to all BAR Regions members and participants who were present and made the WD such a success.

I can’t give enough praise to you all. Yes life does go on without you and I can honestly say from my “dead-leg” perspective – it was very pleasing to see all the different personalities and nationalities together each evening, smiling, laughing and thoroughly enjoying their weeks holiday on the BAR WD.

I’m not going to mention names, you know who you are and
only having  two full tour days to participate with you and experience an informative and productive BAR AGM, I can honestly say that I am really looking forward to our brand new BAR event concept which I am sure is yet again, going to set new presidents and open up new boundaries as far as organised regional events are concerned. It is you the participants that have chosen to make this difference.

So the WD was not terrible after all it was far far better than I had expected.

 See you out there soon.

 Jed and Cristelle
